Report: Carlo Cudicini Set To Join Tottenham Hotspur

According to the News of the World, Tottenham Hotspur will ease their goalkeeping problems by signing Carlo Cudicini from Chelsea later today.

The Italian shot-stopper has been heavily linked with Spurs this month, and it was reported at one point that a £1 million deal had been signed and sealed.

However, a few days later it emerged that Blues boss Luiz Felipe Scolari had vetoed the transfer and was determined to keep hold of a man widely regarded as the best back-up custodian in England.

Further confusion ensued when Harry Redknapp, the Tottenham manager, denied that the club had made any approach whatsoever for the 35-year-old.

And yet the latest reports suggest that Cudicini will seal a free transfer to White Hart Lane in a matter of hours, as he is expected to agree personal terms this afternoon.

It is unclear whether Chelsea will let their veteran 'keeper join this winter by tearing up his deal, which has six months remaining, or whether he will pen a pre-contract and move in the summer.
